What is a Community School?

Now more than ever, we must restore our Pride in Public Education. Our schools are not just buildings - they’re the heart of our neighborhoods. And sadly, we’ve seen what happens when that heart is taken away. The recent school closures in USD 259 have left deep scars in our community. Families are disrupted, children are displaced, and neighborhoods lose a critical pillar of support. We must fully fund public education and give our students the quality education they deserve.
But there is a solution: Community Schools. Imagine schools that do more than teach - schools that offer after-school programs, health services, job training, and family resources. When schools become community hubs, everyone wins - students succeed, families thrive, and neighborhoods grow stronger.
